Simmonds Lumber started its operation in Australia in 1983, when the current shareholder Mr Graeme Black bought the company from the owners of the same name. The company at that time was located in a small yard in the residential area of Pennant Hills, Sydney and was primarily involved in the importation of Radiata out of New Zealand for the local Sydney domestic housing market.
The Sydney Head office has moved a number of times over the past 24 years to allow for expansion, greater opportunity for storage, undercover warehousing and larger office premises until finally settling at the 6-acre site at number one Durham Street, Rosehill which was officially opened by the Mayor of Parramatta, the Honourable Paul Garrard, on the 12th of July 1996, attended by some 120 company and industry guests.
Today the Simmonds Group of Companies under the chairmanship of Mr Humphry Rolleston, the Board of Directors Mr Graeme Black, Mr Stephen McCraw and Mr Geoff Joyce, and the CEO Mr Paul Elsmore, operates across the entire Eastern Seaboard of Australia, with offices in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne and a fourth office in New Zealand.

It is to the latter that the Simmonds Group will invest considerable time and funds to ensure that our business to business strategies offer leading edge technology that will continue to support our growth in tandem with our supply chain and customer base.
The group's product range covers the full requirements of the Australian domestic housing industry and is procured through a number of longstanding agency agreements with some of the largest timber producing companies in the world. Companies such as Carter Holt Harvey, Weyerhaeuser, Patrick Lumber and Barito Jianti to name but a few.
