(Agathis borneensis) Although common in mountain forests of Malaysia it is also known to be found present at lower altitudes. Substitute for New Zealand Kauri. Slightly softer than Fijian Kauri, (480Kg/M3 average) cream to golden brown in colour often with a pinkish hew. Looks similar to NZ Kauri.
Easily worked and kiln dried.
Uses – The same as for Fijian Kauri, but the better timber for doors because of its stability. |
