General guidelines for grading to Australian Standards
Our flooring products are manufactured and graded by experienced graders in accordance with Australian Standard 2796.2 - 2006 “ Timber – Hardwood – Sawn and Milled Products”.
1. Light Feature Grade
As per “Select Grade” description in AS 2796.2 - 2006
This grade is ideal for use in formal living and reception areas or in commercial developments where a uniform and consistent appearance is required.*
2. Moderate Feature Grade
As per “Medium Feature Grade” description in AS 2796.2 - 2006
Deliberately selected to show a limited amount of interesting natural growth characteristics like tight gum veins, tight knots and insect marks, a moderate feature floor provides a subtle reminder of the timber’s natural forest origins. It is a popular and practical choice for family, living and rumpus rooms, as well as bedrooms and office spaces where the occasional scuffs and minor scratches caused by daily foot traffic are better disguised amongst the random features in the timber.*
3. Full Feature Grade
As per “High Feature Grade” description in AS 2796.2 - 2006
Full feature floors have lots of interesting natural growth features dispersed throughout the timber displaying a variety of permissible features and because of this provides a unique looking floor which works well in high traffic areas in residential and industrial buildings and in any room where a relaxed warm rustic look is sought.*
AST also produces SigNature Grade flooring in 19 mm only. SigNature is a robust, naturally featured unique looking floor that captures the best characteristics Mother Nature and hardwood timber has to offer.
Signed by nature it highlights the natural beauty of timber, featuring gum pockets, knots, checks, holes, gum veins (both tight & loose), black spec, inactive insect galleries, pin holes, curly grain & stain. It also includes minor machining imperfections, tear out, miss and slight bowing.
